The idea with the music was to begin with ringtones and alert sounds, getting people’s attention and probably irritating them a bit. It sounded like a fun idea, so I put together an app and some music and tried it out in cafe with some student volunteers just before Christmas. A colleague who commutes by ferry was talking about how his fellow passengers would get really annoyed by the sounds from other peoples phones, and how it would be funny to set a bunch of phones to start making a lot of noise, that gradually comes together to form a piece of music. and if this is the case, I'd be quite disappointed. This mobile music project came about as a bit of a joke.
